One of our officers working a local department store was aware of a known shoplifter, walking from the interior of the store towards the exit. The shoplifter had over 30 pens hidden in the front of his shirt and it was very obvious. He was being followed by several store security officers. Our officer stood at the exit and made eye contact with the shoplifter as he approached.
As the shoplifter came to the electronic sensors at the exit doors, he stopped, folded his hands in prayer, looked upward and said a prayer that he would not get caught. He then stepped out the door as the sensors went off.
